August was filled with family adventures. One the news, we heard about an Edsel Car Tour coming to town, so we just had to go and find these classic cars.
When we found them, we were also able to visit the private museum they were parked next to. It was neat to see other classic cars, tractors and motorcycles in the museum.
That same day, we headed to downtown Boise to enjoy the flywheel festival. I think the highlight for the kids was getting to pet some sheep.
We made it to one rodeo this year, The Owyhee County Rodeo. It has one of our favorite events, the mustang saddle. Three guys have to saddle a wild horse and ride it around a barrel to win.
The new once again gave us another must see event, a B-17 Bomber spent a few days at the Nampa Airport and we had to see it.
The kids loved being able to walk inside. It couldn't imagine flying for hours in that plane.
We took a day trip to Twin Falls to the planetarium band the natural history museum. The kids' favorite part was the replica of mammoth poop.
We were finally able to cross something on our family bucket list, the Shoshone Ice Cave. We've been wanting to do it for years.
We got in one more day of swimming before school started. It was too cold for me but Matthew and the kids were in heaven. There wasn't a crowd so the were able to do the waterslide several times.
Kyle missed his first official day of kindergarten. He picked up some stomach bug the day before and couldn't shake it. I think we both cried.
However, the next Monday, he was ready to go. He didn't even look back. This guy has been ready for school for a year. He loves it. It's been fun hearing him tell me what he is learning and singing the songs he is learning. He was surprised that I knew all the songs as well.
With no kids in the house during the day, I've been able to take time for myself. One thing is I have been able to go to the temple more often. On one visit the gardener have me a four leaf clover. The kids thought it was so cool. They've always wanted to see a real one.
Matthew and I quietly celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary with dinner, a walk around a bookstore, and ice cream.
I love that my kids love being together. They are in charge of getting their own lunch on Sundays. On the particular Sunday, they decided to have a picnic so they could see the classic war planes flying. (A yearly event that we normally go to in person but chose to skip this year.)
