The teachers decided to have a car parade in our neighborhood. We made signs and loved seeing their teachers....plus they threw candy!
For an optional assignment, Bruce was to make a solar oven. He wasn't too into the idea, but I wanted to make it. The kids loved the idea of getting s'mores out of the plan.
The school decided to end the school year a week early. We were excited to be done before Memorial Day!
Kyle learned all his letters, to count to 20, write his first name, and much more.
Cody learned how to read, count to 100, write his first name, add and subtract up to ten, and much more.
Bruce learned how to work with others better, add and subtract double and triple digits, and much more.
Regina learned how to be a team player, multiplication and division, fractions, different writing styles, and much more.
Jennie learned how to deal with drama and friendships, fractions, decimals, to love reading novels, and much more.
These kids were troopers this year. At the beginning of the school year, a computer virus made them go "old school" with their learning...no technology. And at the end of the school year, a different kind of virus made them go "new school" with their learning...using only technology to do their school work.
For one of her assignments, Jennie had to do a Science Fair Project. She chose to test different kinds of popcorn to see how well they pop. She won first place!
We got a surprise visit from a few teachers with this basket filled with prizes. Apparently, they were the students who participated in the Library, PE and Music assignments while doing distance learning. Also Bruce and Regina won a certificate for their participation in the virtual talent show. Bruce did a stuffed animal war (not sure what that even is) and Regina showed how she can write her name with a pencil gripped between her toes.
