Jennie's Surgery

At the beginning of March, Jennie had knee surgery. 

This is an x-ray of her knee caps. (This picture seems to be flipped) Her left knee cap was deformed and needed to have her ligaments realigned to help prevent the knee from dislocating and tracking incorrectly.

The surgery was a 2 hour surgery which was going to result in an overnight stay in the hospital and Jennie was really nervous about it.

She hated the gown that she was given because it wasn't fashionable or pink. (Her all time favorite color)

She had great nurses during her stay. The daytime nurse was firm and challenged Jennie to do things herself. While the nighttime nurse was very patient with Jennie when she was overly tired and in a lot of pain.

Jennie was very excited to get out of her gown and back into her normal clothes. Every kept commenting on how her cast matched her outfit. (Little did they know it would match all her outfits since they all are pink.) They also were amazed at how long and thick her braid was. (We made sure to have her hair in a braid all the time to prevent knots from forming.)

Jennie was happy to be at home and we were blessed to have grandparents come help during this time. 

She got a wheelchair for a month and crutches to help her get around.

We were surprised at who big the scar is and how skinny her leg was after the cast was removed only two weeks after the surgery. After two weeks in the cast, Jennie spent another two weeks in a knee brace before gradually taking it off for Physical Therapy. By the middle of May, she was brace free.
