Thanksgiving 2014

(Our Turkey celebrating the many things we are thankful for: Jennie said for her school, Regina said for being a good sister, and Bruce said for family)

Our plans for Thanksgiving were cancelled this year when I came down with some stomach bug. We were supposed to spend the weekend with Matthew's family, but we didn't want to "share" our germs. Luckily, I followed the prompting of the Spirit earlier that week to buy a small turkey and the trimmings just in case. The kids were very bummed about our new plans--Jennie cried saying, "It was the worst Thanksgiving ever!" Regina still can't understand why we haven't gone to the pool at Grandma and Grandpa's hotel, and Bruce asks every time we get in the van, if we are going to see cousins.
I would have to agree with Jennie about it being our worst Thanksgiving--at least so far. The Turkey was dry, the gravy was gross, and the stuffing didn't turn out. Luckily we had four pies that were delicious--I was in charge of the pies for our original plans. (Next year we hope it will be better)

However, we did have a few good moments.  We got to spend tons of time together as a family--something that we haven't been able to do for a while because Matthew has been busy at work.

Regina, Jennie, and Bruce wearing their Indian head dresses---an idea Jennie had since she made Pilgrim hats at school

We celebrated Cody's First Thanksgiving. He enjoyed some pumpkins puree, and being able to sleep without disruption. (His naps usually get interrupted daily to get Jennie from school.)

The older kids got to play dress up, which is their favorite game right now.

Bruce being a Cowboy Doctor--he did a good job taking care of his sick mommy.

Jennie being a ballerina and Regina just being a crazy girl.

On Friday afternoon, we braved the crowds at the mall. We were all going stir crazy. The kids and daddy decided to do the hurricane simulator---Bruce's First time.

Regina, Jennie, and Bruce in their new pajamas. This year Santa Claus delivered a present early. He gave a new pair of pajamas to the kids and asked them to write a note of what they want for Christmas.
